The ROI Engine

A Return on Investment (ROI) Engine has been developed by MaintainNZ and partner organisations in New Zealand. The ROI Engine is a model based on empirical expenditure and improvement data associated with the implementation of maintenance best practices at partner organisation manufacturing sites.

The empirical results correlate closely with case study results in maintenance best practices literature and proposed by leading international maintenance experts. Maintenance conferences often feature presentations to support maintenance practitioners with financial arguments for making a proposition to senior management on the benefits of a MBP programme implementation.

The ROI Engine provides a “short cut” for maintenance practitioners. The cost/benefit results are embedded in the model. Simply “plug in” readily available key performance indicators from your business and “play” the cost / benefit projections.

You can “Show Them The Money” and get approval for your MBP implementation or protect your current MBP practices from cost-cutting.

The ROI Engine can be used to promote and substantiate expenditure for implementation of a Maintenance Best Practices program as well as showing the consequences of removing funding for R&M prematurely or once best practices performance has been achieved.
